My path to the healing arts
I have been studying Oriental Therapies since 1995 after receiving amazing results from acupuncture from which years of earlier Western Medical treatments had completely failed. I found that I experienced significant and lasting relief from alternative therapies, notably; acupuncture, acupressure, and bodywork. Inspired by my own healing, I chose work in the healing arts and hope to help others find similar relief from their own ailments.
My first experience of being a student of Eastern Methods started with an internship with acupuncturist Kristy Steinbock in Fort Collins Colorado. She was an inspiring and wonderful mentor. From that foundation, my interest and belief in Chinese medicine and alternative therapies has only grown. In 1996, I moved to San Francisco and completed a program at Shiatsu Institute. From there, I moved to the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley to further my knowledge and completed two more certifications in Shiatsu and Sports Acupressure.
Most recently, I have had the opportunity of studying the “The Breath of Ha,” a Lomilomi technique which translates as, healing the bones with the breath, from “Papa K” Kepilino from Hawaii. Also, I have received my second degree Reiki certification in the Usui Tradition under a wise and compassionate teacher, Mary F. Brady.
I believe that bodywork and acupressure are beneficial both as preventative medicine as well potent techniques for helping the body to heal from dis-ease. They are also a useful complement to Western medicine.
Bodywork is phenomenal for relieving stress, helping the body to release toxins, and bringing you back to a natural state of balanced health and well being.
